Torchwood catch aliens.

The history of Torchwood

The Institute was founded by Queen Victoria in 1879, following the events of the Doctor. While staying at Torchwood House, the Scottish estate of Sir Robert MacLeish, the Queen was attacked by a werewolf, in reality an alien intelligence that planned to infect her with its consciousness by biting her. The werewolf was ultimately dispatched, thanks to the efforts of the Doctor and the sacrifice of Sir Robert.

Having discovered that "Great Britain had enemies beyond imagination," Victoria decided to establish the Torchwood Institute in memory of Sir Robert. She also decided that the Doctor was dangerous, and declared that if he ever returned, Torchwood would be waiting. The Doctor's name was written into the Torchwood Foundation's charter as an enemy of the Crown. Her Majesty also states in the Torchwood Charter Dec 31st 1879 that "Torchwood is also to administer to the Government thereof in our name, and generally to act in our name and on our behalf, subject to such orders and regulations as Torchwood shall, from time to time, receive from us through one of our Principal Secretaries of State."In 1882, Victoria expanded Torchwood's role to include the acquisition of alien technology, creating the policy that "if it's alien, it's ours".In 1888, Victoria reiterated the secrecy policy of the Torchwood Institute, protecting her subjects from the "evils that (Torchwood) fight(s)". Not long after the foundation of the Institute, a spacetime rift was identified in Cardiff and as a result, a smaller branch of the Institute (Torchwood Three) was formed there to monitor and exploit the Rift.

The Rift

The Rift has facilitated an underground Weevil infestation and allows for alien technology to wash up in Cardiff, which are sometimes acquired by Torchwood Three. Creatures have been known to pass presumably through time because of the Rift, including a pterodactyl. It can be used as a source of power for the TARDIS, perhaps replacing the Eye of Harmony. The landing of the TARDIS near the fountain in Roald Dahl Plass resulted in the ship's "perception properties" being welded to the Rift, creating a "perception filter" that prevents anyone outside that spot from noticing anything inside. In 19th century Cardiff, Gwyneth developed telepathic powers as a result of life-long exposure to the Rift. "Out of Time" suggests that the Rift can act as an unpredictable window through time in certain weather conditions. Much as the Rift deposits all things alien in Cardiff, it also takes; as a result of this Cardiff has an unusually high missing persons rate owing to humans scattered throughout space and time by the Rift.

2010-01-22 [Tis gone but never gone]: Cariff, Wales, Monday 22/01/10. At 5am Gwen was doing paper work on the Blowfish alien.Bloody hell these blowfinsh are getting to be a problem she thought as she sighed.

Sean was in his car on his way to pick up Grace.

Grace was getting dressed for work.

2010-01-22 [Sigyn, The Faithful Wife]: Faith arrived at work, laptop in one hand and her coffee in the other. She looked around and sighed a little, then went to see Gwen and see if there was anything particular she needed Faith to look at.

2010-01-22 [Tis gone but never gone]: Gwen sipped her coffee as she typed up her report on the Blowfish, that died yesterday.

2010-01-22 [Sigyn, The Faithful Wife]: "Will do." Faith smiled a little and turned to go to the main hub where she usually looked.

Sean picked up Grace and drove to the hub.

2010-01-22 [WASHACKED]: James sighed and looked at Maximus as he parked the car, "Maximus you have to be good at my work, this is your first time her but please be good." God please go un noticed what he is I whould be killed.

2010-01-22 [WASHACKED]: James took Maximus out the back and set him down grabing his hand as he walked in the hub

2010-01-22 [WASHACKED]: James, "Almost done, a few more things and I il be it will take 20 minutes or so."

Maimus pulled on James hand, "Daddys."

James looked down at him, "Hold on Maximus." He turned back to Gwen

2010-01-22 [WASHACKED]: Max smiled at her with teeth a bit to sharp, "Hellos, daddy takes about you he thinks your pretty."

Jame slaped his forhead.

Maximus, "Daddys right you are prettys."

Grace walked over to them,"Hey James, Gwen."she looked at maximus,"Awwww what a cute kid."she smiled.

Gwen chuckled as she took her cup of coffee off Sean.

Sean nodded and walked out her office.

2010-01-22 [Sigyn, The Faithful Wife]: She held two thumbs up and went to get some fresh coffee.The only time she ever got fresh coffee was here because at home, she always re-heated yesterdays coffee before making a new pot. By the time the new coffee was finished, she was already half way to work.

Grace held Maximus close to her.

Sean cleaned up the beer bottles and pizza boxes.

Marc walks alone down the street.

Blowfish was driving about in a stolen car.

Marc kicked rock pebbles into front of him.

Blowfish stopped the car,"OI mate watch it!"

Blowfish shook his head and ponited a gun at him.

Maximusnodded, "OK daddy."

Blowfish chuckled coldly and shot the sign next to him.
